We took this to heart and thought if we're going to have young kids addicted to these games, we want to infuse it with a powerful message. One of the reasons why Xavi had reservations about the game is he had grandchildren that were gaming addicts and he couldn't pull them away from their consoles. But we have that burden that we have to reach out and spread the message of the Paralympics to young kids all over the world. That we wanted to reach out to the younger generation around the world, and ultimately we did receive his go-ahead. He had some reservations about video games because he didn't have a very positive view of them.īut the other team members inside the IPC understood our sentiment. The players were able to take part in competitive virtual matches of parasport in 5 events. In line with the Paralympic Games the ‘Pegasus Parasports Grand Prix’, from 25 August to Sunday 5 September. Thanks to virtual concerts featuring Japanese music icons, real Paralympic avatars, interactive missions and highlight projections from the real world event, players got together virtually. Originally launched in June 2021, the game saw an increase from five to ten of the daily downloads in the past two weeks as a direct result of the crossover and of live related events to the real life games. This was particularly important in a year when we were sadly unable to travel or participate in the games in person.
